Don Wunderlee

Don Wunderlee is an abstract painter who lives and works in New Haven. He received a national award and print contract with Studio El, Emeryville CA and has sold his work internationally. His main paint of choice is acrylic. His work varies from pure abstraction to expressive landscape. Don’s approach to painting is discovery and based on a need to find new ways to contribute to the language of abstraction. He has had careers in puppetry and music. He studied life drawing with Leroy Jensen in British Columbia and was an assistant to Yale artist Alfred Tulk. Don’s interest in arts education inspired him to become a docent at the Yale Art Gallery, where he helped introduce inner-city children to painting.
