Lesley Koenig

Lesley Koenig is a self-taught abstract expressionist who has exhibited in almost 80 juried group and solo shows since 2013. She received an Award of Merit in 2014 for one of her earliest paintings and is a juried member of The National Association of Women Artists.

This native New Yorker discovered her purpose at six years old when she was given a watercolor set. Putting color to a surface was a truly transformational, spiritual experience. Through painting, Koenig finally found her voice in the world, her individuality and a means to connect with others.

Despite being advised that focusing on art would not be a ‘real’ livelihood, Koenig persisted. In high school, she won a full scholarship to design school in a seven state East Coast competition. She segued into fashion, became an award winning fashion major at Parsons School of Design, continuing on to have a career with travels to Europe, Asia and India.

In 2013, Koenig began painting. The intimate spiritual connection to color and paint she first experienced as a child reignited. There was no turning back. From her studio, she developed a preference for working large.

Now based in Southeast Florida, Koenig continues to make discoveries to channel into new work and expand her connections around the world.
