Miguel Angel Mendoza

Miguel Angel Mendoza Melchor was born on November 21, 1967, in the villa of Zaachila, Oaxaca México. He is a versatile Mexican artist. He finished his bachelor’s degree in the regional education center in Oaxaca Mexico. In 1988 he emigrated to the United States, he worked as a cook at various restaurants. Four years later returned to his hometown to teach in different high schools in Oaxaca Mexico, after that he discovered his talent as a painter, opening an art workshop in high school Lazaro Cardenas del Rio to help children develop their skills in the beautiful world of drawing, painting, sculpture, and carving.


His love for art began at the age of 7 years, and his first exposition was in Bridgeport, Connecticut, followed by the central library of Oaxaca, the gallery Benito Juarez Autonomous University of Oaxaca just like in different communities of the City of Oaxaca. His black and white arts can be seen in gouache, acrylic, graphite, or dry brush technique although you see a very colorful works of Magic Realism which shows part of their culture, traditions, and people of the beautiful villages of Oaxaca.


Miguel participated in different cultural events in New York City, also draw the faces of the 43 missing students in Ayotzinapa Guerrero, it took him 9 months to make the students' faces and they were exhibited in the Soho gallery in New York city. He has also exhibited his works in the library of White Plain in New York.


He lived in Bridgeport CT for many years, but he could never show his art and due to lack of opportunities, he moved to the city of New Haven CT. in January 2019, there he met a place called MakeHaven, where he found all the tools to be able to continue what he loves to do making art. Meeting wonderful people, helping him to show his talent as a painter in New Haven.
