According to the
National Institute on Drug Abuse, detoxification "is the first step in preparing for and engaging in treatment" and "involves bringing someone's body back to a stable, toxin-free state." At Cornell Scott-Hill Health Center, our detoxification program is designed to do just that: help individuals through the process of ridding their bodies of drugs and alcohol, so that they can begin treatment with a clean slate.
Signs Your Loved One Needs Detox Treatment
There are a variety of signs that may indicate that your loved one is in need of detox treatment. Here are some of the most common ones:
If you see any of these signs in your loved one, it's important to seek professional help as soon as possible. Detox treatment can be very effective in helping people get their lives back on track, but it's important to get started on the road to recovery as soon as possible.
What To Expect
Detoxification usually takes place in an inpatient setting, where patients are closely monitored by medical staff. This is because detox can sometimes be accompanied by withdrawal symptoms that can be uncomfortable and even dangerous. Our team of doctors, nurses, and counselors will work with patients to make sure that they detox safely and as comfortably as possible.
