Child & Family Guidance Opens Its New Home at 150 Dixwell Avenue in New Haven

Based on reporting from the New Haven Independent by Brandon Cortes.

On Wednesday, October 7, 2026, Cornell Scott-Hill Health Center celebrated a milestone for children and families across Greater New Haven with a ribbon cutting at the new home of its Child & Family Guidance program. The children's behavioral health hub has moved into a larger space at 150 Dixwell Avenue, inside ConnCORP's newly built First HAVEN building.

U.S. Representative Rosa DeLauro, Cornell Scott-Hill Health Center CEO Michael R. Taylor, Chief of Behavioral Health Dr. Ece Tek, Director of Child Behavioral Health Sandra Gibson, and State Representative Toni Walker were among the leaders who helped cut the ribbon.

Part of the Dixwell Plaza Redevelopment

The move is the newest chapter in the long-planned redevelopment of the former Dixwell Plaza, led by ConnCAT and its sister organization, ConnCORP. The First HAVEN building, which also houses ConnCAT's headquarters, opened with its own ribbon cutting on Juneteenth.

Cornell Scott-Hill Health Center played an early role in making the project possible. Six years ago, the health center sold its former 226 Dixwell Avenue building to ConnCORP as part of the land assembly for the redevelopment. At the celebration, Taylor credited former ConnCAT CEO Erik Clemons and ConnCORP Chief Operating Officer Paul McCraven with bringing the health center into the new building.

More Than Five Decades of Supporting New Haven Families

Established in 1972, Child & Family Guidance serves children and teens ages 2 to 18. Families can access individual, family, and group therapy, psychiatric evaluations, medication management, case management, and crisis intervention. This summer, the program was honored with the Well-Being/Wellness Program award from the Greater New Haven Chamber of Commerce.

Behavioral Health and Pediatrics, Side by Side

The new location strengthens Cornell Scott-Hill Health Center's integrated care model. Our Q House location at 197 Dixwell Avenue, home to one of our pediatric practices, is just across the street. That means families in the Dixwell neighborhood can reach both behavioral health and pediatric care in one convenient area.
