Continuing Care Through the Patient Access Fund

On December 16th, Michael R. Taylor, Chief Executive Officer of Cornell Scott-Hill Health Center (CS-HHC) and LindyLee Gold, Chair of the Cornell Scott Hill Health Center Foundation Board joined “CT BUZZ,” Host Natasha Lubczenko to discuss Cornell Scott Hill Health Center Foundation’s Patient Access Fund, a new initiative focused on helping Connecticut residents maintain access to care, amid rising health care costs and changes in insurance coverage.
Michael Taylor explained that the Patient Access Fund is designed to uphold continuity of care for individuals who may lose their health insurance beginning on January 1st. While the State of Connecticut recently authorized $70 million to address the anticipated federal funding shortfall, the total gap is estimated at nearly $300 million, increasing the urgent need for additional funding to ensure and continue access to medical services for many Connecticut residents.
LindyLee Gold added that the Foundation now faces a significant challenge to raise funds for as many as 1,800 CS-HHC patients who may lose necessary resources for medical care and access to their medications. She emphasized that investing in the health of our community is essential to keeping the New Haven region healthy.
